Position on major issues

Education

As your state Representative, I will be working with Florida’s education committee to look at education in a new light where our students at the middle and high school level have more exposure to career skills and vocational learning as an additional option for them to have a successful life.

Education Rep. Dunkley sponsored bill HB553 which asks school districts to provide information to middle school students and parents of the option for career themed courses as they are making their course selection. In the 2023 legislative session Rep. Dunkley sponsored the bill for "Purple Star Campuses". This allows the university to self identify as a purple star campus where military personnel and family have priority in the registration of courses.

Housing

Supported Housing bill HB627 where there were extensive carve out for affordable housing as well as expanding the Hometown Heroes program for military, veterans, police officers, teachers etc. the opportunity to own homes.

Having personally experienced the outcome when home cost increase, I am very passionate about making sure that no homeowner loses their home or renters buckling under the pressure of rental costs.

Veterans

Introduced bill HB507 Veterans Assistance. The bill asks the State to set aside funds in the amount of $500,000 to the Florida Department of Veterans Affairs for the department to expand the way they communicate to veterans regarding their benefits.

As a veteran myself, I have worked tirelessly to meet and connect Veterans to the resources and information available to them. I strongly believe that no one who has made the incredible sacrifice to serve his or her country should be without the resources they need to live and survive when they return home. In Tallahassee, I will continue to ensure that the veterans in District 97 are getting the information they need to help them use and apply for their benefits.
