The men and women of law enforcement not only safeguard our communities, they are the “thin blue line” that separate order from lawlessness. As a prosecutor, Sam worked closely with law enforcement to uphold the law and lock up criminals. As a lawmaker, he will always Back the Blue.
As a former prosecutor, Sam has worked closely with law enforcement to safeguard our streets and put criminals behind bars. In the Florida House, he’s doing the same thing. Sam is fighting illegal immigration and the illegal drugs and violence in brings. And when radicals called for defunding our police, Sam Garrison was among the first to say: No Way.
That’s why Sam voted for law enforcement recruitment and retention funds, and grant funding for body armor purchases to keep them safe. Sam passed legislation that reforms pretrial release, detention and bail to bring criminals to justice. Sam also toughened penalties for people who tamper with or fabricate physical evidence at a crime scene.
Behavioral Health Now more than ever, the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of mental health is essential to safe and successful communities. That’s why Sam is working to deliver cost-efficient care to those who need it most. When mental illness goes untreated, crime and tragedy ensue. To protect our kids and our communities, we need a better approach—one that targets and treats mental illness, safeguards our schools, and preserves our personal freedoms.
Reckless spending, rampant inflation, and runaway regulation—Sam knows that “Bidenomics” is a disaster that’s straining our communities and hurting our families. The solution is commonsense: lower taxes, more freedom, responsible spending. That’s why Sam has voted to balance Florida’s budget every year he’s served. It’s also why Sam has worked to reduce bureaucratic red-tape and lower taxes for working families.
Sam knows that not every path to success requires a college degree. It’s essential that we promote vocational and technical education opportunities for students who wish to pursue careers in mechanics, electrical, plumbing and countless other critical trades.
Health care costs are too high, and Floridians need common sense solutions that improve access to good quality, affordable care. As Chair of the Health Care Appropriations Subcommittee, Sam expanded access to Florida KidCare, increased Medicaid reimbursement rates for pediatricians, and invested in opioid addiction programs that combat Florida’s fentanyl crisis, which stems from Washington’s failure to secure our borders.

The cost of homeowner’s insurance is out of control. We need to enforce consumer protection laws, hold insurers accountable, and stop those who try to game the system and raise prices for everyone.
Supply chain disruptions, housing shortages, reckless federal spending, rising property insurance premiums, and high energy costs driven by Washington overreach mean prices continue to rise for Floridians. Sam has worked with leaders from across the state to pass comprehensive legal reforms to end lawsuit abuse, provide tax relief, and ease the burden of rising insurance premiums. That fight isn’t over—and Sam won’t rest until Florida’s homeowners have relief.

The best way to help our families thrive is to get government out of the way—that means lower taxes and less red-tape. Sam has worked to pass some of Florida’s biggest tax cuts, while also helping to streamline regulation so it doesn’t hurt families or small businesses.
